Getting to Know the Area: Montpelier Farms

Last week Li’l T and I met up with his Godmother, Godbrother and her family friend to visit Montpelier Farms. They have an annual Fall Festival with hayrides, corn maze, pumpkin patch and a lot of other stuff. Li’l T went on his first hayride and had a good time.

I was a little concerned that he wouldn’t sit down for the whole ride but he did really well. We were surprised by how windy it was that day and all of the dirt that was picked up. I think I’m still digging dirt out of my eyes. LOL We went into the corn maze and I was amazed by the huge size of it.  You know a maze is serious when they make you watch an instructional video before you can enter.

Li’l T ran through the maze and was fascinated with the colored tape that ran along the corn in each section. There were some sections where fallen corn had caused the tape to lie on the ground. Li’l T was adamant that the tape needed to be higher up and spent a lot of time lifting it. LOL

It had to have been an hour before we came back out. An hour and we only went through TWO sections of the five section maze.

There was a HUGE slide and a cow belly moonbounce (o_O) that I didn’t take him on. I sat on a haystack while he played around testing his climbing skills. Li’l T really liked the animal barn. So much so that he had a temper tantrum when it was time to go to the next stop. I attribute that to it being the end of a really long day. We stopped to pet the goats on the way out. This was definitely a trip that should be done on repeat visits.

There was just so much to do that the small amount we did left us exhausted. Because of the timing of the day (we’d also gone to the farmer’s market that morning) Li’l T didn’t get a nap.

He fell asleep in the car on the way home. I settled him down for a nap when we got home around 4pm. He slept ALL night and I woke him up around 9 or 10 am. Honestly, I was kind of worried that he wasn’t ok. He stayed up for a few hours but it was obvious that I should have let him sleep. He slept again for another 5 hours. We plan to go again next year but we’ll go earlier in the season.

  1. Wow! A REAL corn maze!? The one we went to was more like a trail maze. Very commercial and kid friendly but fun! Looks like you’ve found a gem in your area.

    • They had a kiddie “maze” that was just a bunch of haystacks that the kids could easily see above. LOL I’m hoping the next time that we’ll get further in the maze.
